Taurine
Classification:
- Conditional Amino Acid
Indications:
- Taurine supports cardiovascular health, muscle development, and nervous system function. Studies also support aid in liver health, cholesterol breakdown, and energy metabolism assisting in combating fatigue and improving exercise performance. Its antioxidant properties can reduce oxidative stress resulting in slowing the aging process of our cells.
Mechanism of Action:
-
Taurine regulates calcium signaling reducing the intracellular calcium levels in neurons, acts as an antioxidant, and is involved in bile salt formation aiding in digestion. In regards to our central nervous system, taurine supports the decrease in endoplasmic reticulum stress of misfolded proteins, which affects the normal physiological functions of the cell. It also is responsible for antagonizing neurotransmitter receptors of GABA+, glycine and NMDA also known as (N-Nitrosodimethylamine), which is a volatile nitrosamine or contaminant that occurs in the environment.
Dosage:
- Typically 500–3,000 mg/day is the recommended dose. Dosages for IV therapy are under our physician protocol recommended daily doses and customized based on individual health needs and goals.
